The Wealth & Health of Nations

image

An interactive graphic on “The Wealth and Health of Nations” by Mike Bostock, the graphics editor at the New York Times and creator of the D3 JavaScript Data Visualization Library.

This is a recreation of the famous GapMinder visualization showing “the dynamic fluctuation in per-capita income (x), life expectancy (y) and population (radius) of 180 nations over the last 209 years”

Data from Gapminder via a number of sources, sourcecode for the visualization over at GitHub and some data documentation showing how much work goes on behind the scenes to make something that looks so simple.
